Jim Bedrick, FAIA, is founding principal of AEC Process Engineering and Senior Industry Advisor with Strategic Building Innovation where he provides expertise on collaboration techniques and AECO industry needs, processes, and contract issues. A registered architect, Jim holds degrees in Architecture and Electrical Engineering, and has over 40 years’ experience in the AEC industry on all three sides of the owner/architect/contractor triad. He has practiced architecture, directed technology for the construction and facilities management division of a global technology company, and led the development of Virtual Building and Integrated Project Delivery at Webcor Builders. Jim is active in many organizations working to advance collaborative tools and processes in the industry, including the American Institute of Architects, where he served on the Contract Documents Committee for 13 years, and the BIMForum, where he serves on the board of directors and is vice chair of the Working Group Advisory Board. Jim is one of the inventors of the Level of Development (LOD) schema and chairs the BIMForum LOD Specification Working Group.
