After the Awards Ceremony, join NIBS President & CEO Lakisha A. Woods, CAE, and Jamie M. Gentoso, P.E., Global Head of the Solutions & Products Business Unit of Holcim, for a discussion about Holcim’s work to improve sustainability and resiliency in the building industry. Woods will also seek Gentoso’s advice for women who are considering a role in construction.

Gentoso began her career with Holcim as a technical service engineer. Since then she went on to take various roles with increased responsibility within construction materials. In May 2018, she returned to Holcim to serve as the CEO for the U.S. Cement organization, where she was responsible for all cement product lines. Most recently, she was promoted to Holcim's Executive Committee as the Global Head of Solutions and Products, where she is now also serving as the interim President of its newly acquired roofing business, Firestone Building Products.

Early in her career, Gentoso spent a lot of time trying to fit in, “being one of the boys.” She learned that there will always be a first time for everything, and things won’t be easy. But she worked hard.

Said Gentoso: “The built environment is not just man’s concern, it’s a human concern. We must call on more women to enter this great industry providing greater diversity in thought and solutions.”
