How To Build Without the Guilt

It is estimated that we are building one New York City a month globally. The role of the construction sector in mitigating and adapting to climate change is critical to our existence in this planet as we know it.

This session will discuss the journey of Turner Construction Company’s sustainability and resiliency program. From the inception of LEED at the beginning of this century to more recent carbon reduction goals and efforts to increase the resiliency of our operations and the buildings we build, we will elaborate on the challenges we have faced, how we come up with solutions, what unexpected skills we have developed and what keeps us going. We will include innovative and not so innovative solutions to the challenges the industry faces that cover topics such as embodied carbon, waste management, climate risk and insurance. We will discuss the importance of collaborating with peers within our company and in the industry as a whole,  what we believe is next and we will ask for your insight on how we together can create a more sustainable and resilient future.
