Jan Kosny is Research Professor and Director of the Building Energy Efficiency and Temperature Control Materials Laboratory at the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Francis College of Engineering. He also serves as Co-Director of the university’s Photovoltaic Prototyping and Testing Laboratory. Previously, Jan served as Executive Director, North American PCM Industry Association (PCMIA), Inc. and Program Director, Building Enclosures and Materials, of the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems, CSE, in Boston. His areas of expertise include heat and mass transport in porous media, phase change processes, nano-porous thermal insulation and radiation control technologies, thermal storage, building physics, building integrated solar technologies, building energy efficiency, building envelope materials and systems.
